Privacy Policy
Introduction
Light Music is a music streaming app developed by Ampliq. It lets you browse, stream, like, and organise music from our catalogue. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use Light Music — on Android, iOS, or at light-music-e129d.web.app — and what we do with it.
Using the app means you agree to the practices described here. If anything is unclear, reach out before you continue using the service.
What we collect
When you register or sign in with Google:
- Email address
- Display name
- Profile photo URL (only if provided by Google Sign-In)
- Tracks you have liked
- Playlists you have created or saved
- Recently played tracks — stored locally on your device only
- Crash reports and error logs via Firebase Crashlytics
How we use it
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account
- Sync your liked tracks and playlists across your devices
- Show you recently played content on your home screen
- Diagnose crashes and improve app stability
- Enforce the distinction between admin and regular user permissions
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
Third-party services
Light Music is built on Google Firebase. The following Firebase services process your data on our behalf:
- Firebase Authentication — manages sign-in, stores email and display name
- Cloud Firestore — stores your account details, liked tracks, and playlists
- Firebase Storage — hosts audio files and cover art (not your personal files)
- Firebase Hosting — serves the web version of the app
Google's privacy practices govern how Firebase handles your data: policies.google.com/privacy. If you sign in with Google, Google's Terms of Service also apply to that sign-in flow.
Data retention
- Your account data is kept for as long as your account is active
- Deleting your account removes your Firestore records — liked tracks, playlist memberships, and your user document. To request deletion, see our Account Deletion page.
- Locally cached audio files (offline downloads) live on your device; you can delete them from the app's Download settings at any time
Security
Access to your data is controlled by Firebase Authentication tokens and Firestore Security Rules. All traffic between the app and Firebase services travels over HTTPS.
No system is completely immune to attack. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately so we can help.
Children's privacy
Light Music includes a Kids & Family music category. This section explains how we handle data for younger users and what parents and guardians should know, in line with Google Play's Families Policy and applicable law.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, or the minimum age required by the laws of your country — whichever is higher. Users under 18 should use the app only with a parent or guardian who accepts this policy on their behalf.
Light Music contains no advertising of any kind. We do not serve behavioural, interest-based, or contextual advertising to any user, including children. No advertising SDKs or ad networks are integrated in the app.
When a child creates an account, the same data described in section 02 is collected — email address, display name, liked tracks, and playlists. No additional data is collected from child users. We do not collect:
- Persistent device identifiers used for tracking or advertising
- Precise or approximate location data
- Photos, audio recordings, or video from the user's device
- Contacts or social-graph information
- Payment information
Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore (Google) process account data for all users, including children. These services comply with applicable children's privacy regulations. We do not share child user data with any other third party, and no third-party SDK in the app has access to user data beyond what Firebase requires for sign-in and data storage.
We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If we learn that a child under 13 has registered without parental consent, we will delete their account and associated data without delay. Parents may contact us at info@ampliq.co.za to:
- Review personal information we hold about their child
- Request correction or deletion of that information
- Withdraw consent and prevent further data collection
For users in the EEA, we rely on parental or guardian consent before processing personal data of children under 16, or the lower age set by the applicable EU member state (no lower than 13). If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child registered without your consent, contact us and we will delete the account promptly.
Parents and guardians can email info@ampliq.co.za at any time to review, correct, or delete data collected from their child, or to ask us to stop processing it. We will respond within 30 days.
To delete an account entirely, visit our Account Deletion page.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- See the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and its associated data
- Object to certain types of processing
To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@ampliq.co.za. We will respond within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we do, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page changes. If the changes are material, we will make a reasonable effort to notify active users.
Continued use of the app after a policy update means you accept the new terms.
